~ Dive into a Book ~
designed by Colleen Babcock
Dive Into a Book is a 12” (30.5cm) textile bookmark with a flat upper body and 3D legs. With a flat upper body this little fairy looks like she’s taken a dive into a book and been accidentally sandwiched between the pages until she was squashed flat. With the fairy’s 3D little legs dangling from between the pages it won’t be hard to find the spot where you left off reading.
This pattern takes you through the basics of sewing, stuffing and needle-sculpting tiny toes. The pattern also includes the drawing of the fairy’s upper body which can either be printed directly onto fabric with your home printer or traced by hand. The instructions then guide you through colouring your mirth-making bookmark by using artist quality pencil crayons and a simple colour-by-number diagram, plus some handy colouring tips. Finally, the whole bookmark is assembled.
This pattern is a perfect taster for beginners wanting to try out doll making or for those who already enjoy doll making but want to create more realistic bare-feet for their dolls.
Plus the finished bookmark makes a practical object that you or a lucky gift recipient can enjoy. After all haven't we all just wanted to sink into a good book once in a while?
Simple shapes with a lot of character making this a great project for the beginner or advanced doll maker,
